AWANA - Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed    (click here for Grace Kids website)

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.. 2 Timothy 2:15

AWANA is an exciting, Bible-based church ministry that includes games, Bible stories, Scripture lessons and much more! It is under the complete supervision of loving and caring adults. The AWANA ministry has been in existence for over 50 years!

Who can come? - All boys and girls from the age of 4-years-old through 5th grade.

What happens at AWANA? - The children are divided into three specific groups depending upon their age. Pre-planned activities are age appropriate and encourage the children to "earn" their badges to be placed on their vests or shirts. The children also look forward to special monthly "Theme Nights."

When is it? - Every Tuesday from 6:30pm - 8:00pm starting the second Tuesday of September and ending the last Tuesday of April.

Where is it held? - Grace Church, 7600 Liberty Road, Powell, Ohio

How much does it cost? - Your cost is for a handbook and a shirt or vest, with weekly dues of 50 cents. Each March there is a Grand Prix for Sparks & T and T children. There is a nominal fee for the wood block and weights.

"Cubbies" - Ages 4 to 5 years (Pre-K)
Their fun takes place in an adult supervised "protected area". The "Cubbies" learn their own theme song, as well as spending time enjoying crafts and games. Additionally, Scripture verses are memorized so they can earn their special badges to be ironed on their vests.

"Sparks"- Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

"Truth & Training"- 3rd through 5th Grade

Children in "Sparks" and "Truth & Training" enjoy a specially planned evening which is divided into the following five main sections:

  • Opening Ceremony - Presenting of the flag, Pledge of Allegiance, and the AWANA theme song.
  • Game Time - High energy creative games, team playing with prizes.
  • Counsel Time - Bible lessons, exciting speakers and singing.
  • Book Time - Reviewing the memory verse and time with the leaders.
  • Awards & Closing - Earned badges are awarded, announcements and prayer.
